“Looks aren't everything. Believe me, I'm a model.” says Cameron Russell, a renowned
underwear model, in her presentation shot by TED, which is a non-profit organization
setting conferences globally with a slogan of “ideas worth spreading”. During her speech,
Cameron gives a fearless and honest talk by giving insider look on fashion industry and
adds, “Image is powerful! But also image is superficial!”
Men are blind enough not to see through women’s cosmetics-applied pimped faces, edited hair colors, worn high heels to convey a image of compact and sexy bottom, even more, implanted fake breasts and botox pumped lips. The level of awareness from men’s side about this topic is extremely low so that we, men, cannot know by sight, which is superficial and which is genuine, since our brains fool ourselves to follow the superficial track. In my belief, this is the very weak point men have in common who anchor their attention more on the appearance than the character of a woman and crave for perfectionism in women’s body.

However, what women are not conscious of is that they play along with men in this
context, directing them on their horizon-facing superficial track. Women, not being
content with their own bodies and as a result trying to construct a powerful image on their
appearance in order to be outwardly apparent and be confirmed by men, let themselves be
guided to play along with men’s blindness!
“Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.” says Nobel Prize winning author John Steinbeck. In this sense, it is obvious that where the mistreat of the men towards women comes from. Power always needs to be sustained in order to let its owner stay in control. Yet, if it is not sustained one day due to the rebellion of women by leaving their “constructed images”, power will question its control which in the long run will cause itself be more self-critical about its expectations and untamed desires.
My aim with this article is to challenge the women side by accepting the weakness of men and offering another approach to this highly-sensitive topic instead of blaming each other in a continuous way about how bad the women are treated and how the men ignore the reality. Lastly, women, you should not be guided to play along with men’s blindness, you should guide the men to cross the bridge of awareness!
